Hi, I’m Taylor Simon.

I provide traditional and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy in San Francisco for individuals and young adults who hear the call on their true self, no matter how quietly, seeking to emerge.

I am an LMFT (Lic #161737)

The effects of complex trauma can impact lens through which you see life.

With complex trauma you may not even know how to describe what is wrong. But something has always just felt off. Probably, you spend a lot of time wondering or suspecting that its your fault. You feel like you’re inherently flawed, broken, weird, in a way that makes you unworthy of the good things that just seem easier for other people - and feel stuck. Maybe you feel disconnected from who you truly are, distrustful of your own perceptions, and inundated with criticism from a harsh inner voice, doubting yourself every step of the way. But the harsh truth is, these are the natural adaptations it has taken to survive your life experience. You are not your adaptations, and together we can ease their grip on you. They aren’t permanent - they’re practiced.

Regardless of the specific details of the trauma you’ve experienced, the way you relate to yourself and the world around you may be significantly altered, making it difficult to go about your daily life.

Complex traumatic experiences can cause significant distress. Maybe you…

  • Have a strong distrust for your own perception, questioning yourself constantly

  • Fear rejection for setting boundaries, leading to people pleasing behavior

  • Have a deep fear something traumatic happened to you in childhood but you can’t remember it

  • Feel disconnected from you own preferences, interests, tastes and passions

  • Struggle to connect with other people in a comfortable and authentic way

  • Are afraid you’ll feel stuck and unsure forever, never finding the fulfillment or peace you crave

  • Cluster of purple and dark purple circles on a black background.

Trauma therapy allows you the space — and grace — to explore how life-threatening events, abuse caused by oppressive systems, or toxic family dynamics in childhood may still be impacting you.

COMPLEX TRAUMA THERAPY IN SAN FRANCISCO

WHAT TO EXPECT

First and foremost, I want to acknowledge that beginning your journey to recovering from childhood trauma, systemic inequality and abuse, or PTSD may be a terrifying prospect. It’s scary to think about reliving the hardest experiences of your life. I create a supportive environment where you can go at the pace that helps you feel safe.

My role as a trauma recovery therapist is to create a safe space for you to start exploring the ways that you’ve been impacted by the distressing experiences you’ve endured. I’m committed to being a trusted ally on your recovery journey.

You’ll never be pressured to talk about anything you’re not ready to discuss. We’ll work to make sense of the confusion your traumatic experiences have created and take the time to process any feelings of sadness, anger, and grief that arise.

Together, we’ll cultivate resilience and find meaning in your journey — both the good and the bad. You’ll reconnect to the parts of yourself that have always been there, even if they’ve been hidden or silenced.

Healing Neurodivergent Burnout

Sometimes it takes hitting a wall to face the painful experiences you’ve carried. After living in a neurotypical world that’s always been too much, telling you constantly that you don’t belong. Having to mask and override your nature throughout your life has left you burnt out and disconnected. It’s time to challenge the neurotypical structure that’s been put on you and find a life that feels congruent. If you’re willing to mine the dark places within for the inherent wisdom you hold, you can step into who you really are. You can release protective adaptations and reconnect to your authentic spirit. You can shed who you’ve been told you are by people in your life who don’t really see you and tailor this life to work for you.

Healing the effects of burnout and moving towards life is a process of discovering, accepting, and integrating your authentic spirit and allowing your full potential to shine uninhibited. Imagine for a moment what it would feel like to be free of guilt and shame about how you don’t perform neurotypicality and feel connected to who you truly are. To consciously live a life with attuned support for your creativity, self-expression, and joy.

Masking, overriding, and self-blame aren’t failures… they’re tools you used to survive. Through traditional and low-dose psychedelic therapy, you can transform burnout into the beginning of a life made for you, to support you to spend more time in your unique gifts.

Additional Tools to Support Your Growth

In addition to talk therapy, I offer complementary approaches for those who feel called:

  • Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP): A guided, supported journey into your inner world that feels safe enough to allow you to process pain and connect with your Inner Healer.

  • Psychedelic Breathwork: A powerful, self-generated expanded state that helps you connect to your inner healer, embody personal empowerment, and integrate your life experiences at a deeper level.

These are optional tools that can enrich your therapy journey, helping you access insights, embodied freedom, and connection to your truest self in ways traditional talk therapy alone may not reach.

I can be reached by contact form, email, or phone.

I’ll be in touch within 2 business days.

Can’t wait to start this journey with you.
