Hi, I’m Taylor, a trauma recovery therapist for adults and teens in California

Helping you cultivate your most authentic life with therapy to heal childhood trauma and PTSD

When suffering is all you’ve ever known, it can be hard to imagine that life could actually be better. The impact of toxic family dynamics in childhood follows us into adulthood and creates a distorted image of ourselves and the world around us.

I say “us” because I’ve been there too.

After feeling marginalized in my family and later going through an abusive relationship, I found myself in a painfully fractured place. I didn’t know how (or if) I could collect the seemingly broken parts of myself and create a whole, integrated being. But there was a dim yet undeniable spark inside of me that said, “There has to be more for me than this.”

And so began my own journey into therapy to resolve childhood trauma. I was willing to excavate the most painful parts of my past so I could become the version of myself that I sensed already existed and desperately needed to be uncovered. The process was slow and challenging, but eventually, I started to find relief. I began to discover my unique gifts that were hidden behind all the hurt.

One of the greatest gifts I unearthed was a passion for helping others heal. My life’s work as a trauma recovery therapist for adults and teens allows me to use my experience in a meaningful way. I can help you pull yourself into greater authenticity, self-loyalty, and integration.

How I became a trauma recovery therapist for adults and teens in California

As my own trauma recovery unfolded, I became fascinated with the resilience of the human spirit. It’s my unshakeable belief that although traumatic experiences can make you feel inherently flawed and broken beyond repairthe true self has a natural drive toward wholeness.

This core belief informed my career trajectory. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon in philosophy with an emphasis on feminism and ethics. From there I earned my Master’s degree in integral studies and psychodynamic theory at the California Institute of Integral Studies(CIIS).

Surprisingly, trauma courses are not part of the standard curriculum in many programs. So I intentionally sought them out because I always knew I wanted my practice to focus on therapy to heal childhood trauma and PTSD.

In college I worked on sexual assault crisis lines to support people who had recently experienced acute trauma. While at CIIS, I served as a teaching assistant for a trauma program under Liz Abrams, a student of Bessle van der Kolk. I also worked for the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) on their study examining the effects of MDMA on PTSD. Shortly after, I began working for UCSF, conducting clinical research.

As a result of my education at CIIS and training at UCSF, I’ve become a clinician that holds mysticism in a clinically grounded framework.

The values that guide my work

In my ongoing training at UCSF, I am privileged to be mentored by women who bring forth femme, Indigenous wisdom and cosmology within a Western medical structure — a priority that I have adopted in my own work.

I’ve trained from a liberation psychology perspective, which means I take social forces, privilege, oppression, and social location into account when providing therapy. It’s important to me to help my clients identify if and how their trauma is a result of capitalism, white supremacy, or colonization — and the radical separation it creates within ourselves and from one another.

Toxic dynamics don’t only exist in the home, they also exist in society and can be equally traumatizing

Where appropriate, we’re going to call out white supremacy when it shows up in the room. Whether that’s the pervasive need to work, conditioning around beauty standards, or hyper-individuality, and the need to do it all by yourself.

Becoming an integrated self isn’t just about your inner environment, it also includes the world around you. Community interchange, environmental awareness, and environmental mindedness are part of our wellness as people.

My practice is a radically accepting and open-minded space for you to follow your inner healing wisdom towards greater wholeness. No matter what level of healing you’re at, my commitment is to hold within me an awareness of your true essential spirit. Always seeking to work in allyship — I’m here to hold space for that part of you to emerge.

No one is better suited to show you your potential than you are. As you start to recognize the cues from your inner guidance, you’ll become empowered to mine the shadows and find the gold hidden within.
